Welcome. This site contains only work and career related information.
After graduating from the University of Queensland (UQ) in 1995 with a Bachelor (Hons I) in Materials Science, I worked for 6 years with the CSIRO
and Ceramic Fuel Cells
in Melbourne on Fuel Cell Technology. This was a mainly research based role where I developed a number of new material applications including high temperature coatings and alloys.
I then travelled and worked overseas throughout England, Ireland, Canada and Russia, before returning to Australia in 2004, whereupon I took up a job with the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC
) in Adelaide. I worked as a corrosion engineer in the maintenance area on 6 COLLINS Class diesel boats, concentrating on cost and efficiency savings, as well as pushing improvements to existing corrosion susceptible systems.
In 2007, I moved to Germany for a position with Xtreme Technologies
, a subsidiary of Jenoptik
GmbH in Jena, working on materials issues associated with the development of Extreme UV light sources for the semiconductor manufacturing industry. The work concentrated on the construction of prototype machines and development of materials resistant to liquid metal embrittlement, high temperature oxidation and so forth.
In 2008, due to the failure of the company to secure further funding, I joined EVONIK
Industries as a Materials Engineer. The majority of my time was spent on commercializing Li-ion battery technology for automotive applications with the EVONIK subsidiary LITARION
at the site of thier industry partner, LiTEC
based in Kamenz, East Germany. My time was spent implementing quality control technology in the production plant and researching superior materials to boost storage performance.
In 2010 I returned to Australia after the expiry of my German visa and started employment as a Senior Materials Engineer with the engineering consultancy, AECOM
Australia. I worked in the Materials Engineering group on infrastructure related materials issues relevant to bridges, ports, railways, buildings, roads and so forth.
In 2013 I returned overseas to work with ARAMCO
in the oil and gas industry. I am currently working as a Senior Coatings and Corrosion Engineer in the Consulting Services Department which oversees all the product and engineering approvals, standards, specifications and EPC contractor submissions for the whole company. I am also active in CP, inhibitor injection, RBI, thermal spray, materials selection and other areas as the responsible corrosion engineer for the North Ghawar Field.
